CGIs : WWW Workhorse

CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. CGIs are scripts or applications which can interface with your Web Server to provide dynamic behaviour. CGIs are ideal for connecting other programs like databases to the Internet.

CGIs can process information returned from forms. Using this information you can retrieve information from a database, subscribe someone to a mailing list or search the web.
